5 ways to perfect your plumbing and heating logo

So you have a plumbing and heating business. You probably have business cards, vans and a website? If not, you will be looking at this in the near future. All of this will feature your logo, but is your logo worth spending all the money getting your vans wrapped, uniforms embroidered and cards printed? Your logo could actually be giving off a bad impression of your service, so to save you this pain, we’ve put together 5 ways you can perfect your plumbing and heating logo.

1. Choosing the right colours to represent your service

Colour is vital for your logo. Colour carries meanings and communicates to your customers, navigate here to see an example of a successful plumbing services and how the logo has allowed them to catch client’s attention. For most plumbing and heating businesses, the pattern of colours used is blue, red and orange. You don’t have to stick by this. You could go outside the box. But if you just offer plumbing and you feature orange as a main colour in your logo, then you are likely to be hounded with unwanted calls from customers asking about your non-existant heating service.

To help you choose your colours, think of the services you offer and how you can represent this with colour.

The blue represents plumbing and the red represents heating.

2. Include imagery but avoid clipart and cliches

There’s always plumbers driving around in vans with just their name stuck on in a lifeless font. This makes them look cheap, careless and unprofessional. But on the other hand, we all see plumbing and heating companies with flames, pipes and water drops. Yawn!

Your company logo needs to include some imagery, but don’t follow the crowd if you want to stand out from the crowd. Of course, these symbols represent what you do, so if you are going to use them then incorporate them in a unique and refreshing way.

Spend 15 mins looking at all your competitors logos in your area and see how you can be different. Or we can help you with this for FREE

This logo includes standard icons, but in a unique way. Notice the shapes create an ‘a’ icon.

3. Simplify your logo and make it crystal clear

Simplifying your logo and making the text easy to read will be key to a great logo design. Imagine having a sticker printed on your brand new van with a logo that’s hard to read. What a waste of money! You need a logo that’s going to work as a driving advertisement for your service. Make your van be the ice-cream van of plumbing and let your customers come to you!

When you hit the road in your local area, you want people to be drawn into your logo. When they catch a glimpse at your logo, they will remember your name and have you in mind when they need your services.

Try leaving your logo with just one graphic/icon only. Make the font bolder and more clear. Limit your colours to 2 – 3 only.

4. Visible and powerful in black and white

Can your logo be easily transformed into black or white and still look readable? If not, you need to simplify it! Every big brand in the world you can think of, has a logo that can stand off any background. It makes your logo versatile and powerful when you can place it on anything.

Test your logo on 3 different coloured backgrounds and find out if it still look strong.

You can still make out what the logo is even in solid black.

5. Own your logo

Make your logo so unique to your business that it is only fit for you. You need your logo to be so unique that nobody else would suit it, just you. When you have a logo that fits like a glove, you will attract the right customers like a moth into a flame.

Think of how you can create a logo for your audience as well as being custom to your business.

Take a look at how unique the icon is with the ‘R’ shape.
